NSW: Corrupt cop pleads guilty to bribe charges

A former Sydney detective who's a key witness in a police corruption inquiry has pleaded
guilty in court to charges of accepting bribes during drug raids.

Former Detective Sergeant RAY PEATTIE, who's 45, has appeared in Downing Centre Local
Court without legal representation.

He'll be sentenced next month for four counts of receiving a bribe between May and
September last year in Manly on Sydney's northern beaches.

PEATTIE has been giving evidence to the Police Integrity Commission inquiry in Sydney.

Described in papers tendered to the court as a heavy gambler, PEATTIE and other officers
-- including an undercover agent -- found $82,000 cash stashed away during four searches.

In exchange for charging the drug dealers with a less serious offence, most of the
money was taken and divided up between the officers with PEATTIE scoring $2,100 for himself.

He'll face a sentencing hearing in the NSW District Court on January 4.
